Our sister-hotel - das Hotel & Wellness-Refugium »DAS KRANZBACH«

A lucky coincidence led us a few years ago to a beautiful spot, in the vicinity of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the middle of the protected area of the Elmauer valley, nestled between Zugspitze and Wetterstein mountains. And here, in line with the tried and tested Steirerhof philosophy and probably unique for Germany, our sister hotel »THE KRANZBACH« Hotel & Wellness Retreat was born.

More than 100 years ago, the English aristocrat Mary Isabel Portman discovered the Kranzbach meadow and built a retreat in the Arts and Crafts style. Surrounded by 130,000 m² of protected natural landscape »Das Kranzbach« is undisturbed and can only be accessed via a private toll road. The unique location in front of the magnificent mountain scenery of Karwendel and Wetterstein offers exceptional views. The wellness retreat is surrounded by sheltered humpback meadows and forests of the Bavarian State Forests. The humpback meadows are special biotope forms that have a high biodiversity. A special natural spectacle is the gentian flower, which begins at the end of April. The magnificent alpine flowers transform the Kranzbach meadows into a blue sea of ​​flowers. Everywhere in the house, nature is within reach.

The interior design of the historic main house is by the designer Ilse Crawford from London. The rooms are individually decorated new designer furniture and partly with free-standing bathtub and with great attention to detail. Surely you will find your favorite room! The different salons with open fireplaces offer space to relax and be amazed. In the modern garden wing, the rooms were built with lots of wood and glass.

In the 3,500 m² bathhouse you can swim between majestic mountain ranges. Leave everyday life behind and spend a day in a bathrobe. You will find plenty of places to relax: saunas, pools, steam baths, relaxation rooms, fresh air terraces, our own Ladies & Relax area and light-filled treatment rooms for massages, scrubs and cosmetics.

The activity program with Pilates, Aqua Fit, Nordic Walking, guided hikes and much more offers numerous possibilities to make the days of rest with exercise more relaxing. Explore the area, for example by mountain bike - you get helmets, backpacks and tour suggestions. In winter, snowshoes and cross-country skis are available for hire.
The yoga platform in the middle of the forest is a unique power place. Use the forest around Kranzbach as a health oasis. In addition to oxygen, the trees release fragrances and essential oils (terpenes). The forest air thus has a positive effect on the psyche and physical health. Take advantage of the unique location!

The "Meditation House by Kengo Kuma" is another attraction and retreat for the Kranzbach guests. This particular "piece of art" is a structurally highly complicated construction. The wooden facade consists of 1,550 individual pieces (shingles made of silver fir). The roof is made of zinc, as known from churches or listed buildings. The meditation offer in the Kranzbach offers beginners the opportunity to get to know different meditation techniques. For advanced users, an intense experience in a special atmosphere is possible.

Let yourself be pampered also in the culinary way. The superior half-board leaves nothing to be desired: sleep long and use the gourmet breakfast buffet until 11.00 clock. Enjoy the vital lunch with soup and a small salad buffet as well as a fresh front cooking dish. Oven-fresh cakes in the afternoon invite you to a little sin and the 4-course choice menus including salad and cheese buffet in the evening make the hearts of gourmets beat faster.
